GT Preparation Course

Gifted and talented learners are defined those who have one or more abilities developed to a level significantly ahead of their year group (or with the potential to develop those abilities). Based on “CfBT Education Trust” at http://www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/giftedandtalented/who/.

Gifted describes learners who have the ability to excel academically in one or more subjects such as English, drama, technology;

Talented describes learners who have the ability to excel in practical skills such as sport, leadership, artistic performance, or in an applied skill.

Critical and creative thinking skills are very important to gifted and talented learners. Schools and families shall provide more opportunities to those talented and gifted learners for additional challenge and extended learning experiences.

Parents shall know the difference between Bright and Gifted. In order to identify child is gifted and talented, there are two widely adopted tests:

1. Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is provided by Riverside Publishing (http://www.riverpub.com). The test covers Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Nonverbal Reasoning.

2. Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test (NNAT) is provided by Harcourt (http://harcourtassessment.com/haiweb/Cultures/en-US/default.htm). This test provides a group-administered measure of nonverbal reasoning and problem solving that is independent of educational curricula and children's cultural or language background. It is designed to assess ability without requiring the student to read, write or speak, therefore this test is helpful in identifying gifted students for whom English is a second language.

Our program will help to improve you child’s thinking skills.
